The Liberia National Commission on Arms (LiNCA) Climaxes Renovation Works at Its Headquarters in Monrovia and Effect Regionalization in Major Bordering Counties.

Monrovia, Wednesday February 19, 2025: The Chairman of the Liberia National Commission on Arms (LiNCA), Hon. James M. Fromayan has taken significant step to fulfill some of his major promises when he took over the affairs of the Commission, the renovation of the Commission’s main headquarters, including exterior and interior facelift and to ensure the decentralization of the Commission’s operations in bordering counties.

At a major press conference, Chairman Fromayan said, it was part of his initial plan to transform the Commission’s Headquarters and make the place conducive so that employees will effectively discharge their duties.

He noted that condition of the main office was unbearable and the poor state of the building was very challenging for the employees to successfully work. “Reconditioning the building was not just about beauty but about setting the stage for a Liberia that can be taken seriously, particularly when compared to our international counterparts,” Chairman Fromayan noted.

Chairman Fromayan also indicated that additional efforts have been exerted to fulfill the renovation of three regional offices to improve working conditions for employees across the country. The Chairman informed reporters that the Commission operates three main sub offices in Tubmanburg Bomi County, Voijama Lofa County and Gbarnga Bong County.

The paramount reason according to the Chairman, to setup the regional offices, is to collaborate with key national security institutions and local county leaders to combat the flows of illicit small arms and light weapons, including explosive and its related materials.

“Our regional offices may be small, but we have ensured that they provide adequate space for our staff to be effective and efficient,” the Chairman stated.

The renovation and decentralization efforts under the James M. Fromayan leadership have been applauded by LiNCA’s employees, who pointed to significant development and improvement of working conditions. One staff member expressed gratitude, stating, “We appreciate the leadership for this renovation. “At least it eases the burden of being squeezed and tightly bundled together while working.”

Meanwhile, Chairman Fromayan is set to represent Liberia this weekend in Geneva, Switzerland at the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), Global Conference.  The ATT is an international agreement, with Liberia as a member, that regulates the trade of conventional weapons, with the goal to prevent deadly weapons from being used to commit human rights violations.
