New LiNCSA Chairperson Marvin M. Sarkor Meets Employees

The Liberia National Commission on Small Arms (LiNCSA) has a new Chairperson.  President George Manneh Weah appointed Hon. Marvin M. Sarkor at the end of October 2018.  The new LiNCSA Chair met with employees of the Commission on Tuesday November 13, 2018 in an acquaintance meeting. The meeting brought together the entire workforce of the Commission with the exception of two regional staff at the Gbarnga Regional Hub and two employees out on leave.  Employees introduced themselves to the Chair and briefly explained their roles and responsibilities.

Burning with passion to translate words into substantive deeds during his leadership of the Commission, Chairman Marvin M. Sarkor called on the employees to see themselves as one family working together; he admonished staff to guide against behavior that would undermine progress at the Commission.  Chairman Sarkor told employees that his paramount focus is to continue to improve productivity at the Commission and to help meet the needs of employees.  He wants to create a more conducive work environment where employees can develop their full potentials.  For the smooth operation of the Commission, Chairman Sarkor encouraged staff to follow the ‘chain of command’ in order to get the job done and bring productivity to the Commission.

Chairman Sarkor served in the United States Army for 5 years and most recently served as Deputy Director General for Operations at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA).  He admonished employees of the Commission to be sensitive about their work, bearing in mind that the Commission is an autonomous security institution with lots of technical work required.  The new Chairperson emphasized that employees should take into consideration that the Small Arms Commission deals with classified materials and its operations are based on intelligence.  As such, employees of the entity must exhibit a high level of professionalism and do away with party politics.

In response, LiNCSA Coordinator, Mr. A. Blamoh Sieh, thanked Chairman Sarkor for meeting with the staff and being acquainted, and he promised to ensure a healthy working environment.  He assured the Chairman that all LiNCSA employees are prepared to work with him.
